Fellowship App

Fellowship APP  We all have goals, and we are all working towards achieving them in some way or the other. Most goals are not accomplished because they are never started. And even when we do start working towards our goals, it is so easy to set them aside and get distracted with life.
Goal:  The project will create an app that will help users set up attainable goals and build a community to motivate them through their journey.
My Role UX Researcher, Designer (Team of 3)
Tools Figma, Miro
Methods Design Thinking Process, Content & Competitor Analysis, Usability Studies, Testing, Interviews, Affinity Diagramming, Card Sorting, A/B testing, Design and Branding Strategy

Overview A community Life coaching app that helps users set and achieve goals by connecting them with like-minded ‘goal setters’ communities and taking the guesswork out of finding ways to achieve said goals.

Goal How might we keep users active and on track to achieve their goals?

  • Coach them into setting achievable goals, and providing applicable resources to help them tackle their goal.

  • Provide a community platform for them to connect with like-minded goal setters.

  • Providing personalized next steps for users that achieved a goal. Make a big deal of achievement.

The Process

My team of 3 ran user interviews conducted to collect qualitative data from participants. The information gathered from interviews will be used to create a user persona. It was not a linear path, we had obstacles along the way.

Empathy and Define

Learning about how people set their goals and how they achieve their goals. What are people [ Goals, Values, and Motivation]? Through in-depth content, analysis was a good starting point for research. First, we looked at various psychology articles on the most common sources of motivation.

According to Psychology Today [2019], External incentives, avoiding losses, hitting "Rock Bottom," Intrinsic motivation, Maintaining a positive self-image, self-validation, Curiosity, Autonomy, Current mood, Other people. These are a mixed bag of motivations for people's different needs and desires.

We also looked at journaling as a possibility to use in the app. According to the Journal of personality and social psychology [2003], Some of the effects of journaling are well-known. Most of us know, for instance, that keeping a gratitude journal can improve mood.

Competitor Analysis : A deeper dive into exploring the direct and indirect competitors in the same industry

Research Plan: 6 User interviews will be conducted to collect qualitative data from participants. helped us further empathize with users and identify their main pain points.  Data from interview questions will be compiled to create a user persona.

Recruitment and task:

  • The ideal participant will consist of people interested in volunteering or donating to nonprofits like Fences for Fido.

  • Gender: 50/50

  • Ethnicity: Mix

  • Device: Laptop and Mobile

  • Duration: 20-30 minutes each

  • Tasks: Finding users set up attainable goals and building a community to motivate them through their journey.

Ideate

We began gathering and analyzing all the data from our preliminary research, interviews, and usability testing. Then, we undertook the Affinity Diagramming method (as a team) to categorize our findings.

He writes down his ‘why’ behind his goals to help remind him.

User Persona: The research analysis also helped in building our persona as a representative reference point for future project development.

User Insight

the key insights we learned were:

  • Interviewees felt overwhelmed by the quantity and/or complexity of their goals

  • Writing down goals in some physical or digital medium

  • A community of encouraging people has helped them stay motivated

  • Deadlines has helped keep interviewees on track

Prototype and Test

The storyboard helped imagine a user scenario and journey which in turn helped map out the user task flow. Meanwhile, we simultaneously built our new style tile with a contemporary design strategy.

Lo-fi Prototype: After multiple versions of sketches, we made the lo-fi prototype and perform

A/B Testing. We then incorporated feedback and recommendations into our final hi-fi prototype.
